The beauty of earning small amounts

March 20, 2008 by Bob

Bob’s $1 per day project$1 per day.  It’s not much, is it?  It’s not hard to earn $1 extra per day.  Hardly anybody would have a difficult time earning $1 per day, if they decided to do it and put in a little effort.

When people think about earning money online, they almost always think that they will get rich in an instant.  Will that happen?  Probably not.  Almost certainly not.  But, can you make enough money to become independent?  Yes, no doubt.  Can you quit your job?  Probably not right away.  Maybe you can in a few months or a few years, though.  I’ll stick my neck out and say this - if your goal is to quit the job that you have now, you can almost certainly do it within 2 years by making an effort to replace that income through the Internet.  I would say, also, that you don’t even have to work very hard in order to achieve that goal.

I am sure you are asking, though, “how will $1 per day really help me?”  Well, think about it - I am not encouraging you to settle for just $1 per day in earnings for the rest of your life.  If you did that, you’d get pretty hungry.  What I am encouraging you to do is to find a way to earn $1 per day off the net each week.  So, your project that you complete this week will bring you $1 per day for the coming years.  After you complete next week’s project that you choose, you will get $1 per day from that too, thus making your total earnings on the net at least $2 per day.  Remember, those $1 per day projects might start earning more than $1 per day as time passes!  They probably will.  So, if you can keep coming up with ideas that are worth just $1 per day to you, by the end of the year you will be bringing in $52 per day, and can continue to add to that.  So, even though you are earning small amounts of money on each project, they all add up, and can accumulate to a nice income.

I am sure that another question that is coming to your mind is this - “If I have 52 different projects going on, how will I have time for them all?”  Well, what I am encouraging you to do is to find things that you can do the work one time and they will keep producing money.  For instance, the other day, I told you about a plug-in called “aLinks” that you can add to your Wordpress blog.  You add that one time, configure all the keywords and you don’t have to worry about it again.  It will hopefully keep  making money for you for years to come.  Maybe you will need to spend 5 minutes a few times per year adding new links to new programs that you have joined, but I am talking about very minimal time that you will need to spend to keep that $1 per day coming in.

In my case, I honestly only work about 2 hours per day.  Some days I work more, but only if I feel like it, and want to take on new projects.  If I just wanted to keep the ventures that I already had, I would have no need to work more than 2 hours per day, and could probably do it in 1 hour.

Another good thing about earning small amounts from many different sources is that if something bad happens and basically shuts down one stream of income, it won’t hurt you badly.  If you are self employed and have just one source of income for your business, if something happens that stops your ability to use that source, you are in big trouble.  If you have 100 different income sources, though, and one of them goes bad, well you will want to look for a replacement, but you will also still be able to eat dinner that night.

Keep readers on your site!

Bob’s $1 per day projectYou want to make money on the net, right?  I suppose if you didn’t, you would not be reading this.  Well, if you have a site where you blog, and you are wanting to make money, you must have ads on your site.  If you have advertising on your site, you must be hoping people will click on an ad that they find useful to them.

One of the keys to getting more ad clicks would be to keep people on your site as long as possible.  The more articles that your readers looks at, the better the chance that he will see an ad that is of interest to him, and thus click on it.  But, how do you keep them on your site?  Well, remember yesterday, I told you about aLinks, the plug-in that links automatically to sites that you pre-define for keywords on your blog.  Today, I have a plug-in that will keep visitors on your site longer, reading more articles.

The plug-in that I am recommending today is called “Related Posts.”  Related Posts is a plug-in that makes a list of posts on your blog that have a relation to the post that the reader just finished reading.  For example, let’s say that I write an article about the Museum in San Francisco that I recently visited.  Well, maybe a year ago I visited a museum in Denver, and before that a museum in New Orleans.  At the end of my article about the Museum in San Francisco, it would say “Related Posts” and would link over to these articles about other museum visits!  It’s all automatic, based on the content of the article.  You don’t have to go in and set up all of these relationships between the articles, the software looks at the words in the articles, and finds the relationships automatically.

Now, by adding these related post links at the end of the article, there is a good chance that the reader who is interested in the topic of the post he is reading will choose to read older articles that are on related subjects.  And, the more articles he reads, the better chance you have to make money from his visit.

Give Related Posts a try!  I like it and use it on many of my blogs!  I think you will find it useful too.  And, over time, I think it will help you increase your earnings by $1 per day - or more!

$1 per day: aLinks

March 18, 2008 by Bob

Bob’s $1 per day projectMaking an extra $1 per day is easy, don’t you think? About the hardest part of the equation is deciding which one of the multitude of projects you should pursue in order to earn that extra dollar each day! Well, one thing I would recommend is to look at different things that you can do on your blog that will cause it to bring in a little extra money each day.

Do you know, there are hundreds of different plug-ins that you can use to add functionality to your Wordpress blog? It’s true, and we will be looking at a number of them in coming days. The one that I want to look at today, though, is a plug-in called “aLinks.”

What is aLinks? Well, it is a plug-in that allows you to set up automatic linking based on keywords. In other words, aLinks will search for keywords in your blog text, and when it finds the words, it will link to other sites that you have set up. For example, if I had a blog where the word “travel” was set up as a pre-defined link, it would link over to maybe Amazon.com, to their books about travel. How can this help you make money? Well, if you did this, you could make a commission from Amazon for every book that sold through your link! See how that would work? It wouldn’t take too long before you were able to earn $1 per day from Amazon. And, you can use aLinks to link to any other sites, not just Amazon. Maybe you have an affiliate marketing network that you are participating in - link to it! Anything that you can make money on, you can link to whenever the keyword comes up in your text! It’s all automatic.

When you install aLinks, you can then set up a list of keywords and where they link to. You can have 1 keyword, or you can have 1 Million keywords! You just set it all up once and the plug-in takes care of the rest! If you need to change the link location later, you don’t have to go back and change every one of those links in hundreds of blog posts. You just change the link once, in your aLinks control panel, and the links on the blog change automatically! It’s that simple!

I highly recommend aLinks for anybody who wants to make money through their blogs. Give it a shot! I’m sure you will like it.
